General Description
Mount, Tank Periscope: M104A1, is used to mount Sight, Periscope: M25 to provide means for sighting Machinegun, Caliber .50: Browning, M2, HB (heavy barrel), in the tank commander's cupola of Tank, Combat, Full Tracked: 90mm gun, M48A1. Mount, Tank Periscope:M104A1 is used to mount Sight, Periscope: M28 or M28C to provide means for sighting the Caliber .50, HB Browning machinegun M2 in the tank commander's cupola of Tank, Combat, Full Tracked: 90mm gun, M48A2 and M48A2C, and Carrier, Personnel, Full Tracked: armored M59 (#'s F2942 and up). Mount, Tank Periscope: M104A2 is used to mount Sight, Periscope: M28C to provide means for sighting Machinegun, Caliber .50 Browning, HB, M2, flexible, or Machinegun, Caliber .50: M85 in the tank commander's cupola of Tank, Combat, Full Tracked: 105mm gun, M60. The mount is fixed to the roof of the cupola above the caliber .50 machinegun ammunition box. It is designed to permit quick withdrawal and insertion of the sight. The sight projects through the mount and is secured within the barrel which is rotated manually to a locked position by a locking handle. An eccentric pin on the sight, provided to make azimuth boresight adjustments, locates in the eccentric adjusting pin slot on the bottom of the mount. A rubber-cushioned headrest permits steady viewing and aiming through the eyepiece of the periscope without danger of injury.
